Before I Forget...

Last night while changing Amelia's diaper she kept asking for her medicine. I told her she already had it. This obviously wasn't the answer she wanted. She got quite for a few seconds and then said, "no, the toothpaste medicine".  She was trying to tell me she wanted some Butt Paste on her cuttle little bum!

Jude: Half A Year

The other day when Jude was sleeping my neighbor brought over her little boy who is just one day older then Jude.  I couldn't believe how big her little boy was and I later told John that their little boy is a lot bigger then Jude. Two days later they were over at our house again. This time Jude was awake and I was completely shocked to see that Jude and our neighbor's baby are just about the exact same size! In my mind our little Jude is still a newborn.

Today I took Jude in for his six month check up. I was sad to find out he has another ear infection. This is his 5th infection so the Dr. had us schedule an appointment with an E.N.T. Poor little guy! He had no fever and showed no signs of being sick. I hate thinking of him being in pain.

Jude has dropped from the 90th percentile for his height down to the 30th and from the 50th down to the 30th for his weight. The Dr. thinks I should start him on formula.  I know he's going to hate it but it will be nice if I can get him to take a bottle!

I know I say it all the time, but we all love this little guy!

Before I Forget...

Last night Amelia was laying on the floor and started crying. When I asked her what was wrong she said, "My finger is busy". It took me a minute to figure out what she meant. She was trying to say her finger was asleep. I love how her little brain works!

Our Happenings

This past week was nothing extraordinary but a good one none the lest. All three kids have been sick. Eleanor and Jude both have ear infections and Amelia has a cold. I'm ready for warmer weather and no more sickness.

Eleanor brought home a few books from school this week and we've been having fun reading them together. I'm surprised at how well she is ready. She sometimes gets frustrated when she gets her 'b's and 'd's confused but we're working on it. Eleanor is quite the little social-butterfly and has been enjoying lots of playdates with her friends, especially Lilly, Avery and Summer.

Amelia has been a lot of fun this week. She started calling me 'Julie' and I think it's actually really cute and funny. I've had to paint her nails everyday this week. She loves having them painted but gets really upset when it comes off. She'll cry and say I took it away. Yesterday she told me, "paint my nails already". She's still taking a 2-3 hour a nap each day. I'm going to be really sad when she stops napping!

Jude is officially sitting and doing a good job at putting everything within reach in his mouth. He also scoots in a full 360 around the floor.  He's also a huge fan of his little exersaucer which makes me really happy. He's also started eating baby food. He doesn't love it but he also doesn't hate it. He's still the happiest little baby around! The other night I went in his room to check on him and I had to stop thinking about how much I love him because it seriously hurt my heart!

John has been getting home from work before 7pm most nights and we are loving it! It's allowed for us to finish the entire five season of Friday Night Lights. Yes, we watched all five seasons in about a month. I really loved the first two seasons. The third and fourth were not my favorite and the fifth was pretty good. I won't lie. I kind of wish there was another season. That Tim Riggins and coach Taylor are pretty nice to watch!

Las Vegas, Baby!

Over President's Day weekend we headed down to Vegas to meet up with Mimi and Grandpa. Poor Eleanor had been so excited for the trip and got sick the day before we left. She was pretty miserable on the drive down and the first day we were down there.  She slept the entire way down (and of course Amelia didn't sleep a bit!) she also slept most of the first day. Even though she wasn't feeling too swell, both she and Amelia had a great time seeing Mimi and Grandpa and spending the day in their hotel room. Mimi wasn't feeling to great either so it was actually kind of nice just taking the day easy. They girls got to spend the night with Mimi and Grandpa. I guess Amelia cried a little bit at night but in the morning she woke up and said, "I did it. I can spend the night!". My kids are so lucky to have such great grandparents!

Of course a trip to Vegas wouldn't be complete without a visit to a buffet for crab. John and I had our fair share of crab and this time Eleanor enjoyed the clams more then crab. That girl has got quite the fine palate!

Since our last visit to Vegas, Eleanor has been talking about winning more stuffed animals at the Fun Dome in Excalibur. This time she was pretty thrilled with the three $100.00 dollar bills she bought with her tickets. She's determined to buy lots of diamonds and crystals with her winnings.

Overall we had a great weekend. It's always nice getting out of the cold and enjoying a little vacation with family.

Happy Valentines Day

Although we don't have reservations at any of our favorite restaurants or tickets to a movie, I am still looking forward to  Valentine's Day tomorrow. Eleanor had her party at school today and was excited she got more then just a lousy wrapper from her classmates (she was convinced they were only going to give her a used candy wrapper).  It's pretty fun watching her get excited about things. She was pretty proud of the valentine I made for her this year. Of course she had her own ideas on how it should have been done. I'm sure next year I won't get away with doing her valentine my way.  She is spending the night with Sara, Dick and Henry tonight so I'll have to wait until dinner tomorrow night to give the kids their little valentines from us.  I still haven't thought of a menu for tomorrow but I have a few fun ideas.

Amelia and Jude are completely clueless about it all but its still fun including them in all the fun.

It's Official...Eleanors A Registured Tiger!

I took Eleanor to the elementary school today to get her registered for kindergarten. It was fun seeing the excitement on her face when she was looking around the school and watching all the kids in the hall.  I'm glad she showed some excitement today because she has never been to thrilled about the idea of going to kindergarten.

Mascara

Amelia loves makeup. Her favorite being mascara a.k.a lipstick. I can bribe her to do a lot of things by promising her a little bit of lipstick and I swear she has a secret stash hidden somewhere. Every time I take one away she'll show up with another one in her hand! Today she went threw an entire container of this fancy red stuff. I'm sure I'll find a trail of this around the house.

We Have A Sitter..Sorta

It's hard to believe this little thing is sitting already! (I guess he will be 6 months in a few weeks!) My focus was a little off but I still think Jude looks adorable in these photos. As you can see he is pretty proud of himself. He does pretty good sitting for the first little bit but when he goes to reach for something or look to the side he slowly falls over.  I love this stage. I love being able to sit a baby on the floor with a pile of toys and not having to worry about him crawling away or getting into anything!

Before I Forget..

Amelia's new favorite thing to say is 'Dang it'. Most times its, "dang it kids" or "dang it mom".  She is also developing quite the attitude. The other day I asked her to pick up all the cucumbers she spit out on the floor. She looked at me with a smirky grin and said, "No thanks mom". I made her sit on the notty chair and the entire time she kept yelling, "dang it mom. I'm so mad!".

When Eleanor was just two she would carry around a stack of papers and call them her prescriptions. Well just a few weeks ago she collected a stack of papers from a model home and called them her policies. She's been toting them around and talking about her policies ever since. She is determined she wants to be policy worker when she grows up. I'm still trying to figure that one out!

Eleanor loves the color white and tries her hardest to only wear white clothes!

While watching the cartoon Cars, Eleanor asked, "What, was this movie filmed in St. Johns?".

Sleeping Buddies

Jude got sick the first week of January and ended up sleeping in our bed for the rest of the month. He would throw up from coughing so much and I didn't feel comfortable leaving him in his room alone. I knew he couldn't stay in my bed forever (although I'll admit I really like having him in bed with me). So on Monday I finally decided to make him sleep in his crib. The poor boy was not happy about it! He cried from 9-2:30. I felt so bad for him and wanted to pick him right up and put him back in our bed but I knew it would only make it harder in the long run. So, finally after crying for nearly 6 hours (I would go in every 5 minutes or so and pat him) I put a soft little bear in bed with him. He cuddled right up to the bear and crashed.  I was so glad it worked but it also broke my heart! The poor little baby just wanted someone/thing to cuddle with. Now every night I put him to bed with the little bear and two of them cuddle up and Jude falls right to sleep. It's about the cutest thing I've seen.

Oh and please notice Jude's chubby little hands. I swear this little boy is pretty close to perfect!

Our Life

I feel like this is a pretty good summary of what our lives are currently like. Eleanor and Amelia have become quite the buddies. Don't get me wrong, they both can pester the heck out of each other but most of the time they are pretty funny together!

I wish Jude was looking over at his sisters with his big smile. He honestly LOVES his sisters. Even when Amelia is trying to drag him across the floor by one arm or when Eleanor squeezes his stomach so tight he just about pukes. There really isn't anything much better then watching him admire his sisters.  He's also a big fan of his toys. He loves laying like that and having a whole collection of toys to play with. Most of the time Amelia decides which toys he can and can't have.

Amelia is still wearing diapers. I thought I would try getting her into underoos but she's not showing any interest. I put her on the toilet the other day and after telling her to push her pee out she told me, "It doesn't work".  She's also discovered the binkie. Never in my life did I think I'd have to worry about one of my kids being a binkie addict. I'm pretty sure she likes having it because we all thought it was funny the first time she put Jude's binkie in her mouth. I honestly don't let her have one but every now and then she'll find one around the house and put it in her mouth. (Now, I just wish we could get Jude to take it a little better!)

Eleanor still insists on only wearing white. She told me when she gets older she will ONLY wear white. It's a constant battle trying to get this girl to wear something somewhat presentable. We've made a deal that she can pick out her clothes for preschool and I get to choose church and any other outing. Sara talked her into cutting her hair shorter and it fits her so perfectly!
